LONG-LIFE AIR FILTER SYSTEM FOR CHAINSAWS

EXTENDED FILTER SERVICE LIFE. Pre-separation routing removes coarse, larger particles from the airstream before they can reach the actual filter. The HD2 filter keeps even fine dust away from the engine, ensuring a long engine service life, long cleaning intervals and easy maintenance of your chainsaw. When we refer to a long-life air filter system in chainsaws, this exclusively describes models that have pre-separation routing and an HD2 filter. With this system, you benefit from a significantly longer filter service life compared to conventional air filter systems.

MANUAL DECOMPRESSION

EFFORTLESS START-UP. The decompression valve makes it easier to start your power tool. When starting, you can allow some of the compressed mixture to escape from the cylinder by opening the valve. This protects the start-up system and reduces the amount of force required on the starter cord.

STIHL FOUR-CHANNEL TECHNOLOGY

FOR LOWER FUEL CONSUMPTION AND HIGH PERFORMANCE. Thanks to STIHL four-channel technology, you can work with your power tool with very low fuel consumption and high performance. The four overflow channels guide the fuel-and-air mixture into the cylinder in a targeted and more compressed manner, which optimally burns the fuel and significantly increases the performance of the engine.

STIHL ANTI-VIBRATION SYSTEM

Intense vibration at the handles of power tools can lead to longer-term effects of blood vessels in the hands and arms. STIHL have therefore developed an effective anti-vibration system where by the oscillations from the machines engine are dampened which significantly reduces vibrations at the handles.

COMPENSATOR

REDUCED MAINTENANCE. The compensator is a control system in the carburettor, which uses pressure compensation to ensure that engine performance, exhaust gas quality and fuel consumption remain virtually constant over a long period of time, despite increasing contamination of the air filter. You do not need to clean the air filter until there is a noticeable drop in performance. This means that you can work for a long time without maintenance.

CONTROLLED-DELIVERY OIL PUMP

OIL CONSUMPTION BASED ON NEED. The controlled-delivery oil pump reduces your chainsaw’s oil consumption by up to 50%. To use it, simply select the E position. For very long cutting attachments or very dry wood, an additional oil volume can be set by the user.

SIDE-MOUNTED CHAIN TENSIONING

FOR SIMPLE AND SECURE RE-TENSIONING. Side-mounted chain tensioning allows for protected, easy and quick chain tensioning and replacement. The tensioning screw is inserted laterally through the sprocket cover.

STIHL EMATIC SYSTEM

REDUCES OIL CONSUMPTION. The STIHL Ematic system comprises a STIHL Ematic or Ematic S guide bar, a STIHL Oilomatic saw chain and a controlled-delivery oil pump. It ensures that the chain oil gets to where it is needed for lubrication. This allows you to reduce oil consumption by up to 50%. If you often work in dusty conditions or if you use long guide bars, you can quickly and easily increase the oil quantity at any time with the new oil pump system.

TOOL-FREE FUEL CAP FOR OIL AND FUEL TANKS

QUICK AND EASY TO USE. With tool-free fuel cap, you can open and close oil and fuel tanks in just a few simple steps, thanks to a bayonet closure.

STIHL 2-MIX Engine

The STIHL 2-MIX engine is both powerful and economical. Separating the exhaust emissions from the unburnt gas minimises scavenging losses, and therefore increases the power output while reducing consumption.<br /><br />The two-stroke engine with STIHL 2-MIX technology saves up to 20% of fuel and reduces emissions by up to 70% compared to STIHL 2-stroke engines of the same performance class without 2-MIX technology.

STIHL MS 391 FarmBoss® Chainsaw

The MS 391 petrol chainsaw combines strong cutting performance with comfort, for farmers, tradespeople and landscapers. The main areas of application for this power tool include cutting firewood, landscape maintenance and cutting construction timber. The STIHL MS 391 chainsaw impresses with an output of 3.3 kW (4.5 hp) and achieves an optimal power-to-weight ratio of 1.9 kg/kW. The chainsaw is powered by an economical and powerful STIHL 2-MIX engine. The STIHL MS 391 features a decompression valve that significantly reduces the pulling force on the starter cord, so that you can start the petrol chainsaw as effortlessly and easily as possible. A controlled-delivery oil pump for demand-based delivery of oil. This means that lubrication can be optimised for very long cutting attachments or very dry wood, and oil consumption can be reduced in other cases. The STIHL Ematic system ensures that every drop of oil reaches exactly the places it is needed in a targeted manner.
The routing pre-separator removes coarse dirt particles, relieving strain on the filter itself. You can also retrofit your MS 391 with an HD2 air filter, thereby upgrading it with a long-life air filter system. This will allow you to work for significantly longer without interruption, and reduces the number of filter cleanings required.
